The musicians shared some posts on social media teasing the collaboration

Sammy Hagar has been a busy guy lately. After a very successful run of initial shows back in the spring, he recently decided to add more dates to his Best of All Worlds Residency in Las Vegas. The Red Rocker’s Van Halen celebration is returning to Dolby Live at Park MGM for two more stretches starting next March. This follows up his widely successful Best of All Worlds Tour, which saw the Hagar sell out amphitheaters last summer.
Before he returns to Vegas, though, it looks like Sammy has something else cooking.
On Sunday [September 21], Hagar shared a video with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.
“Ok, here we are – the three best singers in rock ‘n’ roll,” Hagar says to the camera as the three embrace. “And you say, ‘What are those three guys doing?’ Well, it’s hard to say – but we’re just getting started.”
The person filming the clip again asked, “What are you guys doing?”
Sammy replied, “It’s hard to say. We’re figuring it out. We’re trying to figure out what we’re doing.”
Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante provided a bit more clarity in his Instagram post. He shared a photo of himself with Hagar and Kroeger in what appeared to be a recording studio, stating: “When you get a call to come over and play drums on a new song that these 2 are doing… you drop whatever it is and go. What a spontaneous thing and so much fun. Thank you both.”
Tommy Lee reposted a clip shot by his wife Brittany Furlan to his Instagram story of himself playing drums in what appears to be a rehearsal space. While the clip is clearly of Tommy behind a kit, Sammy referred to him as a “singer” in the video he shared on his social media. Could Lee also be lending his vocal talents to this new project? In the late 90s and early 00s, Tommy fronted is own band, Methods of Mayhem, and he continues to sing backup vocals for the Crüe today.
Check out the clips from social media below.
Of his upcoming residency dates next spring, Sammy said, “I can’t tell you how hard it’s been not to leak this announcement. I must say those last nine shows were some of the best shows I’ve done in my life. I love this band like no other and can’t wait to do it again. One listen to the live residency record coming out and you will understand this is my idea of retirement! Beats golf any day. The Best of All Worlds Returns to Vegas! We’re thrilled to announce new shows for the Las Vegas Residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM.”
Drummer Kenny Aronoff will once again be joining Hagar, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, and guitarist Joe Satriani on the Vegas Strip. Jason Bonham, who played drums for the super group’s summer run, announced at the end of 2024 that he would not be joining the group for any future shows. Throughout his career, Aronoff has worked with the likes of John Mellencamp, Bob Seger, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, among others.
On July 13, 2024 in West Palm Beach, Florida, Sammy Hagar kicked off The Best of All Worlds Tour at the iThink Financial Amphitheatre. Along with former bandmate and longtime collaborator Michael Anthony, Hagar is celebrating his storied time with Van Halen on the 28-date North American tour. With some help from fellow rock juggernauts Joe Satriani and Jason Bonham, the group is bringing Van Halen’s catalog back to life on stage. The set was filled with some of Van Halen’s biggest hits, and a few rare gems. Fans were also treated to select songs from Montrose and Chickenfoot, as well as Hagar and Satriani’s solo catalogs.
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, Hagar declared that special guest appearances by musicians of note in every city the tour stops at could occur, and he also publicly invited his former Van Halen bandmate, founding drummer Alex Van Halen, and original singer David Lee Roth, to join him on stage during his tour last year.
“We’re gonna invite every musician in every town,” Hagar stated. “First of all, whenever you play, if there’s a guitar player in town, no matter what city it is, they come out to see Joe [Satriani], just like they used to do for Eddie [Van Halen]. So, if we’ve got other guitar players, we’ll get them involved. If Alex Van Halen wants to jump up, if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on, motherfucker. You are welcome! This is about Van Halen.”
Since Eddie Van Halen’s passing in October of 2020, there’s been a ton of speculation about either a tribute tour, or a Van Halen reunion of all the surviving members.
“It’s time,” Hagar said on Stern. “Nobody else is gonna do it. […] And we are the only ones who can do it.”
When Stern asked what the odds are of Alex Van Halen coming out to a gig, Hagar replied, “I would hope so. I reach out to Al [Alex Van Halen] about once a month for about five years now, and he doesn’t get back to me. I call, I leave a voice message, I send a text, and I send an e-mail. All three things. ‘Al, give me a call.’ Al’s favorite line to me was always, every time he wanted to get back together, he would say, ‘You know, Sam, we ain’t gettin’ any younger.’ So, I’d say, ‘Hey, Al, we ain’t gettin’ any younger. Give me a call. Let me know. What do you want do? Come on over. Let’s get together. Mike [Michael Anthony] and I will meet you somewhere.”

Last weekend, Mötley Crüe’s Las Vegas residency finally kicked off at Dolby Live at Park MGM after being previously postponed when frontman Vince Neil suffered a stroke.
Back in March, Mötley Crüe postponed their Las Vegas Residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM, originally scheduled for March 28 through April 19, 2025. They pushed the dates back to September. The band issued a statement, saying that due to a required medical procedure recently advised by vocalist Vince Neil’s doctors, they had to push the shows back a few months.
“To all the Crüeheads who were looking forward to see us this Spring, I’m truly sorry,” Vince said at the time. “My health is my top priority so I can bring you the awesome shows you deserve, and I can’t wait to return to the stage. Thank you for all the well wishes that keep reaching me. Your support means more than you know.”
Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and John 5 of Mötley Crüe shared in a joint statement: “Please join us in wishing Vince a speedy recovery. We are looking forward for him to get well again and to take over Vegas together in September. We can’t wait to see you all out there, and thank you for your understanding and support in the meantime.”
Most recently, Vince Neil has been back on stage playing a few exclusive solo shows alongside some other legendary 80s frontmen – Bret Michaels of Poison and Stephen Pearcy of Ratt. The first gig took place at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston back in early August.
“Hey, thank you everybody, it’s good to be here,” Vince said to the crowd before singing the Crüe classic “Shout at the Devil.” “I haven’t been on stage in almost a year now. I had a medical thing that happened to me, and they said I wouldn’t be back in stage. And I said, ‘Fuck that, man.’ And I’m back and I’m with you guys tonight. And I’m really proud to be here man.”
Now, Vince has revealed that he suffered a stroke. He woke up on December 26, and couldn’t get out of bed. However, he said he felt fine before going to bed on Christmas night. In a new interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Mötley Crüe frontman gave more details into what exactly happened to him and what he went through to recover.
“I had a stroke,” Vince stated. “My whole left side went out.”
The “required medical procedure” he that the band alluded to in their statement postponing the Vegas residency was in fact his on-going physical rehabilitation.
“I had to learn how to walk again, and that was tough,” Vince continued. “Doctors said they didn’t think I’d be able to go back on stage again, and I said, ‘No, no, I’m gonna do it. Watch and see.”
Vince underwent physical therapy over the course of the next several months from his home in Nashville where he’s resided for the last decade with his longtime girlfriend, Rain Hannah.
“I went from people carrying me to the bathroom, because I couldn’t walk myself, finally to a wheelchair, “Neil said. “I graduated to a walker, and then I had a cane. Now I don’t need anything. But it’s like a full-time job getting back to where you feel good again.”
Mötley Crüe kick off their residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM tonight, Friday, September 12. Vince is rejoin his longtime bandmates Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee, alongside current guitarist John 5. Off the heels of the historic Höllywood Takeöver club shows at the iconic Whisky A Go Go, Roxy, and Troubadour in Los Angeles last Fall, the Crüe is excited to bring an unforgettable night and inimitable new show with many surprises to fans for the residency this Fall – From The Sunset Strip, To The Las Vegas Strip.
