The singer was forced to immediately cancel his upcoming gigs in Connecticut and Massachusetts

Morrissey has been forced to cancel two upcoming U.S. concerts. The singer was supposed to perform at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut tonight [September 19] and at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts tomorrow, Saturday, September 20. The gigs were abruptly canceled after Morrissey received a death threat.
“In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life,” his management said in a statement. “Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience, tonight’s [September 19] engagement at Foxwoods [Casino] has been cancelled.”
Shortly after the Foxwoods cancelation, management also canceled Morrissey’s show tomorrow night in Boston.”
“Due to recent events and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band, the upcoming shows this weekend at Foxwoods and MGM Music Hall have been cancelled. All tickets will be refunded automatically at your original point of purchase.”
“We appreciate your understanding,” management concluded.
The threat on Morrissey’s life came last week ahead of his performance at CityFolk Festival in Ottawa, Ontario on September 12. According to the Ottawa Citizen, a man named Noah Castellano posted the alleged threat to Bluesky on September 4. Posting under the account name “guy who gets shot in the head one hundred times a day,” Castellano wrote, “Steven Patrick Morrissey when you perform at TD Place here in Ottawa next week on the evening of September 12th, 2025 at about 9pm, I will be present at the venue in the audience and I will attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally.”
After his arrest, Castellano was released on $5,000 bail. Morrissey did in fact perform at CityFolk Festival. Festival organizers declined to comment on the alleged incident. Castellano was contacted by the Ottawa Citizen for comment, but he declined.
“I’m not interested,” he said.
While he went on to play his shows in Toronto [September 13] and New York [September 16], Morrissey has now canceled his next two shows. It is unclear whether or not the “credible threat” mentioned by management in today’s statement on the cancelations is related to Castellano’s initial threat from September 4, or an entirely new issue.
Morrissey’s fall North American tour kicked off in Montreal back on September 10. His last show was on September 16 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. After his two canceled shows, the next scheduled date on his docket is September 23 in Philadelphia at The Met. As of now, that show is still going ahead as previously scheduled. Morrissey’s entire fall tour is set to run through October 25, wrapping up at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. A second string of U.S. dates is set to kick off on January 6, 2026 in San Diego and wrap up on January 22 at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida.
