The new record is slated for arrival in February

Puscifer are back with a brand new song, “Self Evident.” The track is the lead single from their forthcoming album Normal Isn’t which is slated for arrival on February 26 through Puscifer Entertainment/Alchemy Recordings/BMG.

The upcoming record channels the post-punk influences that shaped the members’ early musical experiences while pushing into darker, more guitar-driven territory. It will be available on standard black vinyl, limited edition black ice vinyl, limited edition golden swirl vinyl, CD, and cassette.

“We’re definitely leaning into our early influences,” singer Maynard James Keenan shares. “It’s the place where goth meets punk. It’s where I came from.”
Written and recorded across Arizona, Los Angeles, and on the road during last year’s Sessanta tour, Normal Isn’t blends the dark electronics and sharp humor Puscifer is known for with a more spontaneous creative process.
“From the outset, we had discussed an element of rawness and edge, which guitar brings,” shares Mat Mitchell, who co-produced the album. “We got rid of the guard rails and made the music more aggressive.”
For Keenan, this release represents a new approach to songwriting. While he’s always been deeply involved in shaping Puscifer’s sound, this time he set-up his own digital recording system and built full song ideas before presenting them to Mat and Carina.
That shift gives the music fresh immediacy, one that Carina Round says changed the dynamic in the studio. “Instead of just saying, ‘I want this to sound like Fleetwood Mac on cocaine if they had a baby with PJ Harvey,’ Maynard was showing us his intention, which was really cool,” she explains. “In Puscifer, any idea can totally change without any preciousness, and everybody is on board – not unlike an insane asylum. We found each other because we’re demented in a symbiotic way.”
“Normal Isn’t reflects this time we are living in,” Keenan adds. “As storytellers and artists, our job is to observe, interpret, and report. We take in our environment and share what we see, and what we see around us does not appear normal. Not by a long shot.”
Contributors to the new collection include Greg Edwards (bass), Gunnar Olsen (drums), and Sarah Jones (drums) with guests Tony Levin (bass on “Normal Isn’t” and “Seven One”), Danny Carey (drums on “Seven One”) and Mr. Ian Ross (father of Atticus Ross, who narrates “Seven One”).
To promoted the record, Puscifer are returning to the road. The trek begins on March 20, 2026 and will see the band stop in Dallas, Nashville, Boston, New York, Kansas City, Seattle, and more. Very special guest for the trek will be Dave Hill. Tickets and VIP packages go on sale this Friday, October 24 at 10 AM local time. A 36-hour artist pre-sale begins tomorrow, Wednesday, October 22, at 10 am local time using the code: PSC26. Check out the full tour itinerary below.
Earlier this year, Puscifer, A Perfect Circle and Primus released the Sessanta E.P.P.P. on March 29 through Puscifer Entertainment. The three-song release featured one new song from each of the bands, with all three tracks co-written by A Perfect Circle and Puscifer’s Maynard James Keenan.
The EP, which was performed live on the second leg of the Sessanta Tour, is available digitally and on vinyl. The webstore exclusive vinyl variant is on glow-in-the-dark vinyl with red and yellow swirls with the b-side featuring an etching of the Sessanta mascot, Cerbero. The signed, tour-exclusive variant was limited to 75 copies per night and featured the three tracks on the a-side along with instrumental versions of the trio of songs on the b-side. A different color variant was exclusive to each show and showcased daily on the bands’ socials.
On the historic Sessanta Tour, all three storied acts will be performing together, on stage at the same time, during the exclusive run of shows. The event will also see each group perform their own distinctive sets, but the players will continually transform as the night unfolds.
“Although I am slowly going deaf with all the rock song touring, and the aging and what not, the thunderous cacophony of whining and crying from the places we aren’t playing Sessanta was heard loud and clear,” Puscifer’s Maynard James Keenan stated at the time. “But instead of being a grumpy old fart and calling you all a Waahhhmnulance, we decided to book a few more shows.”
The shows were in celebration of A Perfect Circle and Puscifer singer Maynard James Keenan’s 60th birthday. Artists Zoltron and Zombie Yeti designed the poster art for the tour, and show-specific prints were available at the merch booths.
Notably, the tour marked A Perfect Circle’s first live performances since 2018.
“It took some massaging, and some long days in rehearsal, but we managed to seamlessly pull off this three-song rotation at Cinquanta, my 50th birthday shows, at The Greek Theatre in 2014,” said Keenan of the seven-date run. “Bands aren’t used to simultaneously sharing the stage with other bands, but if anyone can do it, it’s Primus, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer.”
In May of 2024, Puscifer released their song “The Algorithm.” The track was composed for the soundtrack to the comic book series, American Psycho. A live mix from the Sessanta Tour will be featured on the band’s upcoming album.
“American Psycho” artists Piotr Kowalski (“The Witcher,” “Bloodborne,” “Sex”) and Brad Simpson (“Kong of Skull Island,” “Stray Dogs,” “Blade Runner Origins”) collaborated with Puscifer to create original illustrations for the official video. The clip, animated by Tony Celano of Sumerian Records, features the serials’ lead characters Charlene Carruthers and Patrick Bateman, with Carruthers’ social media-heavy storyline aligning with Puscifer’s oft-mentioned themes of dopamine addiction through habitual social media use.
“Joining forces with the legendary rock band Puscifer for our soundtrack to the ‘American Psycho’ comic book series is an electrifying collaboration,” shares Nathan Yocum. President of Sumerian Comics. “This original song brings an intensity and depth to the narrative, elevating the experience for fans and readers alike. We’re thrilled to amplify the story’s impact with Puscifer’s signature sound, creating a fusion of music and storytelling that will further captivate audiences.”
Mat Mitchell, Puscifer guitar player and co-writer, adds: “Our approach to writing ‘The Algorithm’ was not to delicately peel back the layers of the onion, but instead, to take an axe to it.”
Puscifer’s Existential Reckoning was released in October of 2020 via Alchemy Recordings/BMG. Critically acclaimed, the record peaked at No. 7 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums chart. They are promoting the album heavily on this run, and the crowd’s reaction has been more than favorable. Due to overwhelming demand, the group added several global stops to the tour. Back in March, Puscifer released Existential Reckoning: Re-Wired, a re-imagining of their latest hit album. The cover art was done by Daniel Martin Diaz, and the record features special appearances by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails), Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age), Phantogram, and more.
