I would say greatness can be measured by longevity. 36 years later, the spirit of DIO is still going strong thanks to the Dio Disciples. There’s probably nothing harder in music then replacing an iconic lead singer like Ronnie James Dio, but Tim “Ripper” Owens has taken the reins brilliantly, and definitely has the Dio Disciples sounding like the real deal. Craig Goldy can still rip off classic hard core solos, while the rest of the boys – Simon Wright on drums, Scott Warren on keyboards, and Bjorn Englen on bass – never miss a beat. Dio Disciples chose a great song list, pulling from the catalogs of Dio, Rainbow and Black Sabbath. The crowd was rocking out on June 27, as it always does at Brick By Brick in San Diego, California.
