On December 25, The Killers gave fans a special holiday surprise with the release of a brand new song, “We Did It In the Name of Love” – a guitar-driven track, with hints of goth and new wave.
“Santa’s got a brand new song in his bag,” the band said on social media. “Merry Christmas!”
Back in January, The Killers released their new greatest hits compilation, “Rebel Diamonds,” which featured another new song called “Spirit.”
The all-new track follows the single, “Your Side of Town,“ which came out back in August through their label, Island Records. Written by frontman Brandon Flowers, and the track was produced by The Killers, alongside Stuart Price and Shawn Everett. The previously released “boy” arrived last year. The song was written before Pressure Machine and, Flowers confirms, the themes explored in the lyrics actually led him on the path to writing and recording that album.
The Killers released their sixth studio album Imploding The Mirage back in August of 2020. Despite having to cancel the supporting tour, the album performed well. It peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart. With live music at a standstill, the band uncharacteristically wasted no time getting to work on the follow-up. The result was Pressure Machine, which arrived almost exactly a year later to the day on August 13, 2021, and once again gave the group the top spot on the Rock Albums chart.
The band’s massive Imploding the Mirage Tour wrapped up last October.
This summer, The Killers are returning to their native Las Vegas for a very special residency. The legendary band – Brandon Flowers (vocals), Dave Keuning (guitar), Mark Stoermer (bass) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr (drums) – will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album, Hot Fuss, by performing the record front to back for the first time ever. The residency will run between August 14 through August 30 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Later this year, Blink-182 are returning to the road. The platinum pop-punk trio confirmed plans for another round of dates in North America this summer following their wildly successful reunion run last year. The new leg begins on June 20 at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida and wraps up on August 15 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The run will see the band perform in Miami, San Antonio, Denver, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, New York, and more.
Very special guests for the trek will be Pierce the Veil. Alexisonfire will join both bands at the tour’s conclusion on Toronto.
Blink-182 released their highly-anticipated new album One More Time… last October. The album skyrocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It also topped Billboard’s Rock and Alternative Albums charts, and the UK’s Rock & Metal Albums chart. The record features the return of guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge. On October 11, 2022, it was announced that DeLonge was rejoining Blink-182. The group parted ways with DeLonge back in January of 2015. Unsurprisingly, there were conflicting reports about how the situation unfolded. The band recruited Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba to fill in after DeLonge’s departure.
The band’s last proper LP was 2019’s Nine, featuring Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba. The band’s last release with DeLonge was 2011’s Neighborhoods. The record was a commercial success for the band, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and No. 1 on both the Rock and Alternative albums charts. They followed it up with their Dogs Eating Dogs EP in 2012.
