Godsmack [The Rock Revival]

Hard rock titans Godsmack are giving their seminal debut album the vinyl treatment for its 25th anniversary. The band announced Tuesday a special limited edition of the multi-platinum effort. The album will be pressed on 2-LP orange vinyl, and comes with an exclusive 12″x12″ lithograph.

Additionally, a standard black vinyl version is available. The band has also curated a special merchandise line surrounding the album, which includes a t-shirt, hoodie, tote bag, and exclusive foil poster. Check out the full line below.

Released on August 25, 1998, Godsmack’s self-titled debut album was a breath of fresh air at a time when rock music was under reconstruction. The disc cracked the Top 25 on the Billboard 200. Alongside contemporaries like Korn, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Staind, and others, Godsmack dominated the charts with four Top 10 singles from the album – “Whatever,” “Keep Away,” “Voodoo,” and “Bad Religion.” Since its release, Godsmack has been certified five-times platinum by the RIAA. When it was released, the album was available on CD and cassette. In 2007, Godsmack’s label at the time Universal Republic released the record on 2-LP gatefold picture disc.

A very limited quantity of the limited edition 2-LP orange vinyl is available for pre-order now HERE.

On Saturday [October 28], Godsmack took the stage at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden to close out the 2023 concert season at the venue. The show was a make-up from the band’s previously postponed July 28 show at the venue. After pausing the concert several times, the show was eventually put off entirely due to weather. The band promised to return, and they delivered last night in a big way.

With the unseasonably warm weather very much on their side this time, Godsmack took the stage with rock mainstays Extreme as their special guests. Both bands cranked out top-notch sets. At the end of their set, Godsmack brought the members of Extreme on stage for a rowdy rendition of AC/DC’s classic “Highway to Hell.”

The performance was tough to top, but Godsmack did their best with an encore that featured “Under Your Scars,” “Bulletproof,” and “I Stand Alone.”

Godsmack released their eighth studio album Lighting Up the Sky on February 24 via BMG. Fans can purchase the album now HERE. It is be available on CD, standard black vinyl, and limited edition blue vinyl. Fans can also purchase the album digitally.

Godsmack’s last album was When Legends Rise which was released in 2018 via their long-time label BMG. The record hit No. 1 across Billboard’s Top Rock, Top Hard Rock, and Top Alternative Albums charts. To date, they are one one of the best-selling hard rock acts of their generation.
