A rainy day at Warped Tour 2013 was set in Motion with my first interview of the day – Justin Pierre of Motion City Soundtrack. This year marks the band’s 8th appearance on Warped Tour, and they couldn’t be more excited to be back. They’re still touring off their 2012 effort which hit #8 on the Billboard Independent Albums Chart. It was the first album the band released on their own label, The Boombox Generation, in conjunction with Epitaph Records. When I asked how the tour was going, Justin informed me that this was the 20th show of the tour, leaving them with exactly 20 shows to go. “We’re actually working on album number six right now,” Justin said. This is huge news for MCS fans, and he followed it up with even more good news. “We recorded one song and we’ve been playing it live. It’s mixed, it’s about to be mastered, and I think we’re just gonna put the song out into the universe.” The new album is tentatively due out around Christmas, or in early 2014. – by Matt Bishop
