Unfortunately we end the week with sad news for rock music fans. Bassist Vassilios Metropoulos has parted ways with Otherwise. The band posted the news earlier today on their Facebook page. Metropoulos is leaving the band on good terms.
“After 3 1/2 years of brotherhood, our bass player Vassilios Metropoulos will be parting ways with OTHERWISE to pursue other life interests. His last show with the band will be this Sunday, December 21, at The Machine Shop in Flint, MI. Working with Vassilios has been an incredibly unique experience, as he has progressed from crew guy to rhythm guitar player to bass player, while also being a “jack-of-all-trades” in various disciplines behind-the-scenes. We thank him for his many tireless hours of hard work, and wish him nothing but the best as he embarks upon the next journey in his life.” – The Wise Guys
Otherwise have had an excellent 2014. They released their much-anticipated sophomore effort Peace at All Costs. The album dropped on September 16 via Century Media Records, and was one of the most anticipated discs of the year. Otherwise embarked on a headlining tour back in the fall which feature stops at Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA and Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, KY. The band also toured with Buckcherry on select dates. On December 27, the band will headline the House of Blues in their hometown of Las Vegas for a special holiday show. In February, the band will hit the road once again with 10 Years. As we wrap up our “best-of” lists of 2014, Otherwise’s music video for “Darker Side of The Moon” will be featured in TheRockRevival.com’s Top 25 Rock Music Videos of 2014 and their album Peace at All Costs has made our list of TheRockRevival.com’s Top 50 Rock Albums of 2014.
The Rock Revival would like to extend our love and best wishes to Vassilios as he embarks on the next chapter of his life. For the last four years, Otherwise have graciously granted us interviews and allowed us to cover many shows during their various tours. They are certainly one of the best and freshest bands in rock right now, and we look forward to seeing them continue to dominate in 2015. We’ll see you guyz out on the road. V, best of luck brother. Thanks for the memories. – by Matt Bishop
