This summer, Incubus and Deftones will be hitting North America for a co-headlining tour featuring special guests Death From Above 1979 and The Bots. The trek kicks off on July 22 at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI and wraps up on August 30 at the Sleep Train Ampitheatre in San Diego, CA. Tickets go on sale starting April 25 via LiveNation.com.
Incubus are prepping for the release of two EPs this year via their new label Island Records. The band recently released their new single “Absolution Calling”. “The recording has been fantastic, it’s been amazing,” guitarist Mike Einziger told our friends at Billboard. “We’re planning on releasing two installments that will total an album, two EPs.” The first EP Trust Fall (Side A) is due out on May 12. The band’s last effort was 2011’s If Not Now, When? which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200. During the band’s down time, Einzinger played guitar on the hugely successful Avicii-produced single “Wake Me Up” that featured Aloe Blacc on vocals in 2013. Vocalist Brandon Boyd was also active, releasing his new solo album Sons of The Sea. He toured in support of the album. Back in February, Incubus played Soundwave Festival in Australia.
Deftones toured relentlessly off their 2012 masterpiece Koi No Yokan, which debuted at #11 on the Billboard Top 200 and was one of the best albums of the year. In addition to their headlining shows, the band performed at Ozzfest Japan last May and Metallica’s Orion Music + More Festival last June in Detroit, MI. Deftones hit the road for a short U.S. arena tour with Avenged Sevenfold back in the fall. This spring and summer, Deftones are hitting the festival circuit from May-July with stops at Rocklahoma (US), Heavy By The Sea Festival (Greece), Sonisphere (UK), and many more. Afterwards, the band is set to take an indefinite hiatus for rest, relaxation, and to eventually begin work on their next album. Lately, frontman Chino Moreno has also been busy with two side projects – Palms and ††† Crosses. Palms’ debut LP ranked #37 on TheRockRevival.com’s Top 50 Albums of 2013.– by Matt Bishop
