With a name like The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, you’ve just got to be a good band. I recently caught up with Randy Winter and Josh Burke, the guitar tandem of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, backstage in their 2012 U.S. Tour alongside 10 Years. While the guys have been laying low for awhile, they’ve got some big plans in the works both in the studio and on tour. “We’re going into the studio with Dave Bendeth, original producer of Don’t You Fake It. We’ll be in there for about three weeks making new music for a new EP,” Burke said. As far as touring goes, the band will be heading to the UK for eight shows after this tour, and more. “This whole next year is gonna be a roller-coaster,” Winter stated. “We’ve already been working on an acoustic album in our down-time which is already about 80% done.” The band plans to follow the release with an international acoustic tour.
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus have had a steadily successful career thus far. Each of their four studio albums has charted in the Billboard Top 200. Their sophomore effort, 2006’s Don’t You Fake It, was certified gold by the RIAA. The follow up, 2009’s Lonely Road, debuted at #14 on the Billboard Top 200. The band is currently touring off their 2011 release, Am I The Enemy, and their new single, “Twilight”. In the coming months, the band has an acoustic tour planned to accompany their acoustic record, and more world touring with stops in Singapore, the Philippines, the UK, and more. When ringing in the New Year this year, the band will also be celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary, so I’m sure there will be some special surprises to commemorate the occasion. There’s plenty of new music and tour dates coming from TRJA, so strap in and sit tight for 2013. – by Matt Bishop (Photography by Matt Bishop)
