Today, melodic pop-rockers Coldplay premiered a new music video for “Magic”, the first single off their upcoming sixth studio album, Ghost Stories, which drops on May 19 via Parlophone/Atlantic Records. The new disc will be the follow-up to 2011′s Mylo Xyloto, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the UK Albums Chart. The album produced five hit singles, including the smash “Paradise”, and garnered the band five Grammy Award nominations. The band’s two new songs – “Magic and “Midnight” – suggest the band is going in a more stripped down, alternative approach. The songs are quiet and transcendent, and give great promise for the rest of the record. The second single “Midnight” hits radio stations on April 19.
Coldplay were featured performers at the iTunes Festival at SXSW in Austin, TX back on
March 11 alongside Imagine Dragons, Keith Urban, and more. Formed in 1996, Coldplay released their debut album, Parachutes, in 2000. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album and the BRIT Award for British Album of The Year. Since then, the band has won the BRIT Award for Best British Group three times. They have been nominated for twenty-five Grammy Awards, winning seven of them.
