Last night, Shinedown frontman Brent Smith sand the National Anthem before the NBA matchup between the Orlando Magic and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The game, which took place at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, about two hours away from Shinedown’s native Jacksonville. The night was an extra special one, as NBA legend and former Magic center Shaquille O’Neal was becoming the first Magic player in franchise history to have his jersey retired.

Brent Smith rose to the occasion, and showed once again why he’s one of the greatest vocalists of all time, in any genre of music.

Later this year, Shinedown are touring very sporadically. One of the highlights will be a headlining performance at Inkcarceration 2024 alongside Godsmack, Breaking Benjamin, and more. Shinedown are scaling back on touring because they are working on their next album, Smith confirmed.

“We are currently in the studio working on new music for Shinedown No.8,” Shinedown frontman Brent Smith confirmed. “We will only be playing a select amount of live shows this year, but when the opportunity came to us to headline this year’s Inkcarceration, and support DWP, there was no hesitation whatsoever. We are so honored to be a part of this incredible show, and to share the stage with such extraordinary artists, and the greatest fans in the world. Let’s go!”

Shinedown’s acclaimed seventh studio album, Planet Zero, produced by the band’s bassist Eric Bass, arrived last July. The album debuted in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart and the Official UK Albums Chart, and at #1 on six other Billboard charts including Top Album Sales, Rock, Hard Rock, and Alternative Albums Charts. The band as been touring hard in support of the record, with live shows that feature the biggest production of their career.
