MC5, New York Dolls, Duran Duran, and more are on the ballot

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has revealed the nominees for the class of 2022. A slew of rock and metal acts are once again on the ballot. Rage Against The Machine, Pat Benatar, Judas Priest, Beck, Duran Duran, MC5, and New York Dolls are up for induction this year.

Other nominees include Carly Simon, Eminem, DEVO, Lionel Ritchie, A Tribe Called Quest, and Dolly Parton, among others.

“This year’s ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each who has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture,” said Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation chairman John Sykes. “Their music not only moved generations but also influenced the sound countless artists that followed.”

Eminem is the only artist not he ballot to be nominated in his first year of eligibility, with his debut album Infinite being released in 1996.

Last year, rockers Foo Fighters and Todd Rundgren were enshrined.
