This spring, The Rolling Stones are returning to the road. Their North American stadium tour will see frontman Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, and guitarist Ronnie Wood perform at stadiums across the continent. Produced by AEG and Concerts West, The Hackney Diamonds Tour kicks off on April 28, 2024 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, and wraps up on July 17 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The run includes stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Orlando, Atlanta, and more.
Last month, The Rolling Stones released their acclaimed new album, Hackney Diamonds. The record hit No. 1 in 19 countries around the globe, and features the GRAMMY®-nominated single, “Angry.” After announcing their North American stadium tour last week, the band has confirmed a forthcoming expanded release of their latest studio effort.
On October 19, The Stones played a secret club show in New York City to launch the release of their new record. The invitation-only gig took place at Racket NYC (formerly Highline Ballroom). There were approximately 650 people at the show. Among those reportedly in attendance were GRAMMY® Award winners Elvis Costello and Diana Krall, Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener, The Mummy), comedian and actor Chris Rock, actress and entrepreneur Mary-Kate Olsen, and star of the 007 franchise, actor Daniel Craig.
The band played a brief seven-song that began with “Shattered” from 1978’s Some Girls. The debuted their new album’s lead single “Angry” next. They would also play “Whole Wide World” and “Bite My Head Off” from the new record. The Stones also treated fans to performances of their classic hits “Tumbling Dice” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.”
For the encore, they played another new song, “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” for the very first time. The track, from their new album, features none other than GRAMMY® Award winners Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder. To the surprise of all in attendance, Lady Gaga joined The Stones on stage for the performance.
Now, The Stones have confirmed an expanded release of Hackney Diamonds on CD. The double-disc edition features the original album, plus recordings from their entire live performance of their exclusive album release show at Racket NYC in New York last month. The new edition features a 24-page booklet with live photos from the performance. It slated for release on January 19, 2024, and is available for pre-order now. Check out the full tracklisting below.
Their 23rd original studio effort, Hackney Diamonds will also be The Rolling Stones’ first album without founding drummer Charlie Watts who passed away at 80 in August of 2021. During a live-streaming event hosted by The Tonight Show‘s Jimmy Fallon, the band revealed that two tracks on the album – “Mess It Up” and “Live by the Sword” – were recorded in 2019 with Watts on drums.
“Ever since Charlie’s gone, it’s different,” guitarist Keith Richards said during the event. “He’s ‘Number Four.’”
Next year, Foo Fighters will be embarking on a full United States tour. It is a full, proper tour, after sporadically performing across North America throughout 2023. The run begins with back-to-back shows at Citi Field in New York on July 17 and July 18, and wraps up on August 18 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, where frontman Dave Grohl’s old house recently hit the market. Before that, though, the group has added a few North American shows in May.
Before this U.S. leg next year, Foo Fighters are returning to the UK to kick off their Everything or Nothing at All Tour. The run begins on June 13 at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester and wraps up on June 27 Villa Park in Birmingham. Special guests for the shows will be Loose Articles, Courtney Barnett, Honeyblood, Shame, Himalayas, Hot Milk, and GRAMMY® Award winners Wet Leg on select dates. Foo Fighters’ newest LP debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, and the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart.
Foo Fighters’ new album, But Here We Are, arrived on June 2. The album peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, and topped Billboard’s Rock and Alternative Albums charts. It marked the band’s first release without late drummer Taylor Hawkins since he joined the band for 1999’s There Is Nothing Left to Lose. Dave Grohl recorded all the drums on But Here We Are.
On December 25, The Killers gave fans a special holiday surprise with the release of a brand new song, “We Did It In the Name of Love” – a guitar-driven track, with hints of goth and new wave.
“Santa’s got a brand new song in his bag,” the band said on social media. “Merry Christmas!”
Earlier this month, The Killers released their new greatest hits compilation, “Rebel Diamonds,” which featured another new song called “Spirit.”
The all-new track follows the single, “Your Side of Town,“ which came out back in August through their label, Island Records. Written by frontman Brandon Flowers, and the track was produced by The Killers, alongside Stuart Price and Shawn Everett. The previously released “boy” arrived last year. The song was written before Pressure Machine and, Flowers confirms, the themes explored in the lyrics actually led him on the path to writing and recording that album.
The Killers released their sixth studio album Imploding The Mirage back in August of 2020. Despite having to cancel the supporting tour, the album performed well. It peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart. With live music at a standstill, the band uncharacteristically wasted no time getting to work on the follow-up. The result was Pressure Machine, which arrived almost exactly a year later to the day on August 13, 2021, and once again gave the group the top spot on the Rock Albums chart.
The band’s massive Imploding the Mirage Tour wrapped up last October.
