Long before Las Vegas became a regular destination for some of rock’s biggest touring acts, Mötley Crüe helped establish the modern hard rock residency as a major attraction in the entertainment capital of the world. Known for their outrageous stage productions, elaborate pyrotechnics, larger-than-life personalities, and decades of rock anthems, the legendary Los Angeles band was perfectly suited for the spectacle of Las Vegas. Over the years, Mötley Crüe has completed three major residencies in the city, beginning in 2012 and continuing with subsequent engagements in 2013 and 2025. Now, the band is preparing for a fourth residency in 2027, further cementing its place in Las Vegas entertainment history.
Mötley Crüe made history on February 3, 2012, when they launched their first Las Vegas residency, Mötley Crüe Takes On Sin City, at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The engagement, which consisted of 12 performances through February 19, marked a significant moment for the band and for Las Vegas entertainment, as Mötley Crüe became one of the first major hard rock groups to embrace the residency format traditionally associated with pop singers and established entertainers. Rather than performing a conventional concert, the band transformed the intimate venue into an immersive rock spectacle, incorporating elaborate lighting, pyrotechnics, dancers, aerial performers, and theatrical effects. The residency featured all four original members: vocalist Vince Neil, guitarist Mick Mars, bassist Nikki Sixx, and drummer Tommy Lee. One of the production’s biggest attractions was Lee’s spectacular roller-coaster drum rig, which carried him through a full 360-degree rotation while he performed. The shows also featured an extensive selection of the band’s greatest hits, including “Wild Side,” “Shout at the Devil,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Dr. Feelgood,” “Home Sweet Home,” and “Kickstart My Heart.” The successful engagement demonstrated that hard rock bands could thrive in the Las Vegas residency format, helping pave the way for other major rock acts to pursue similar productions in the city.
Following the success of their inaugural residency, Mötley Crüe returned to The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on September 18, 2013, for a second engagement titled Mötley Crüe: An Intimate Evening in Hell. The 12-show residency, which concluded October 6, featured a substantially redesigned production intended to give audiences an entirely different experience from the band’s first Las Vegas run. Where the 2012 residency had emphasized the group’s outrageous party atmosphere, the 2013 production embraced a darker, more sinister theatrical concept built around hellfire, flames, and dramatic visual effects. Tommy Lee’s roller-coaster drum set remained a major attraction, but the surrounding production introduced new pyrotechnic elements and elaborate effects intended to make the relatively intimate venue feel like a much larger concert setting. The band once again performed a career-spanning collection of songs, combining early favorites with major hits from their commercial peak. The residency also arrived at an important transitional point in Mötley Crüe’s history. Less than four months after the engagement ended, the band announced its farewell tour in January 2014, setting the stage for what was initially intended to be its final years as a touring act. Consequently, An Intimate Evening in Hell became Mötley Crüe’s final Las Vegas residency featuring all four original members.
More than a decade later, Mötley Crüe returned to Las Vegas for their third residency, simply titled Mötley Crüe: The Las Vegas Residency, at Dolby Live inside Park MGM. Originally announced in October 2024 as an 11-show engagement scheduled for March 28 through April 19, 2025, the residency was postponed because of a medical issue involving Vince Neil. The singer later revealed that he had suffered a stroke in December 2024, which affected the left side of his body and required months of rehabilitation, including learning to walk again. The rescheduled residency ultimately opened September 12, 2025, and concluded October 3, following 10 performances. The engagement marked the band’s first extended Las Vegas residency since returning to touring after their highly publicized 2015 farewell. Following their reunion announcement in 2019, Mötley Crüe had embarked on the massively successful Stadium Tour alongside Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts in 2022, followed by additional international touring. By the time the group returned to Las Vegas, guitarist Mick Mars had retired from touring and had been replaced onstage by John 5, who joined Neil, Sixx, and Lee in the band’s touring lineup.
The 2025 production was conceived as a retrospective of Mötley Crüe’s career, taking audiences from the band’s gritty beginnings on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles through their rise to international superstardom. The performances included early material such as “Too Fast for Love,” “Live Wire,” and “On with the Show,” alongside staples including “Wild Side,” “Shout at the Devil,” “Looks That Kill,” “Dr. Feelgood,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” and “Kickstart My Heart.” The shows also featured theatrical visuals and archival elements reflecting the band’s history, offering fans an opportunity to experience Mötley Crüe in a more intimate setting than the massive stadiums and arenas they had been playing in recent years. Neil’s return to the stage following his serious health problems gave the residency additional significance, serving as both a professional comeback and a personal milestone for the singer.
On October 19, 2026, Mötley Crüe announced plans for their fourth Las Vegas residency, Carnival of Sins in Sin City, scheduled to take place at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from March 19 through April 3, 2027. The eight-show engagement will mark the band’s first residency at the iconic venue and will build upon the theatrical concept of their celebrated Carnival of Sins production, originally introduced during their 2005–2006 world tour. The upcoming performances are expected to feature elaborate visuals, theatrical staging, and a fan-voted setlist combining the band’s greatest hits with songs that have not been performed live in decades. The announcement arrives as Mötley Crüe celebrates its 45th anniversary in 2026, further extending a career that has included numerous platinum albums, international tours, and some of hard rock’s most recognizable concert productions. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.
Across their three completed Las Vegas residencies, Mötley Crüe has performed 34 shows, with another eight scheduled for 2027. From the groundbreaking Mötley Crüe Takes On Sin City residency in 2012 to the hellish theatrical extravaganza of 2013 and their triumphant return in 2025, each engagement has reflected a different chapter in the band’s storied career. Their upcoming Carnival of Sins in Sin City residency promises to continue that tradition, bringing the band’s signature combination of spectacle, excess, and hard rock to yet another iconic Las Vegas venue. More than four decades after forming in Los Angeles, Mötley Crüe remains one of the acts most closely associated with bringing arena-sized rock productions to the Las Vegas residency stage.
