The ultra-heavy single is the first taste of the legendary guitarist’s debut solo album
Guitar legend Mick Mars has unleashed the first taste of his highly-anticipated forthcoming solo album, The Other Side of Mars. The ultra-heavy single, “Loyal to the Lie,” arrived on Halloween [October 31]. Stream the official music video below.
“I wanted to do something that was just big and mean,” Mars says of the track. “People are going to hear my tone – my sound. I am what I am. Nobody else can do it. And like everyone, I’ve got a limited number of years. So, I’m gonna do all I can to do a lot of stuff.”
In October of 2022, Mick Mars officially retired from touring with Mötley Crüe.
“When it comes to my playing there’s the Mötley side and the Mars side,” Mick stated. “Either way, I always have a clear vision of what I want to do.”
The upcoming debut solo album from Mick Mars, The Other Side of Mars, arrives on February 23 through Mick’s own label, 1313 LLC. It will be available on vinyl, CD, and digital download. There will also be a limited number of signed vinyls and CDs available. Check out the cover art and tracklisting below now.

The record will feature vocalist Jacob Bunton, bassist Chris Collier, Winger keyboardist Paul Taylor, and Korn drummer Ray Luzier, who previously served as the drummer for Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth on his solo outings, The DLR Band (1998) and Diamond Dave (2003). That former album, oddly enough, also featured none other than John 5 on guitar. John 5 is currently touring with Mötley Crüe, and will be recording new music with the group.
