With an unfortunate mistake made by the NFL, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and San Francisco natives Metallica will not be performing at the halftime of Super Bowl 50 in their home town. Luckily for fans, Metallica will still perform tonight along with their friends Cage The Elephant for CBS Radio’s The Night Before at AT&T Park in San Francisco. Fans can stream the entire concert live in 1080p FullHD above, and audio recordings of the show will be available for purchase as a download or a collectible CD via Metallica.com.
Metallica will be debuting a brand new stage setup for the show. Drummer Lars Ulrich spoke with our friends at Rolling Stone yesterday about the new production. “It’s big,” Ulrich stated. “I mean it’s really big. I haven’t seen it yet, but I got sent the first pictures last night, and it’s very vivid. It’ll light up the sky.” The band is currently working on new material for their much anticipated tenth studio album, the follow-up to their Grammy Award-winning 2008 opus Death Magnetic.
Cage The Elephant recently released their new album Tell Me I’m Pretty back in December. The disc peaked at #26 on the Billboard Top 200. Cage The Elephant performed at Metallica’s inaugural Orion Music + More Festival in 2012 at Bader Field in Atlantic City, NJ.
