After much speculation over the last 24 hours, Judas Priest are stepping in for Ozzy Osbourne at Power Trip. Priest are the “personal friends” that Ozzy was referring to in his withdrawal statement. Judas Priest will play opposite AC/DC on Saturday, October 7.

“The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly,” Ozzy said on Monday. “They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.”

Judas Priest stated, “Power Trippers, are you ready for some Judas Priest-style heavy metal? Judas Priest are primed and proud to fly the flag for heavy metal at this prestigious festival. We are ready to raise double horns way up high together keeping the metal faith at this ‘bostin’ one of a kind Power Trip world event!”

Power Trip is slated for October 6 through October 8 in Indio, California at the Empire Polo Grounds. Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Tool, and Guns N’ Roses are set to perform. Goldenvoice, the company behind Coachella, Stagecoach, Cruel World, and more will be putting on Power Trip.

Fresh off their 50th anniversary celebrations, the band is reportedly working on music for the follow-up to their acclaimed 2018 album Firepower. Priest’s contributions to the genre are well-documented, however they often seem to be overshadowed by contemporaries like Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden, the latter of whom are on the Power Trip bill. Having them take the stage alongside these other acts will be an ultimate testament to their already rock solid legacy.
