Infectious Grooves coverAs if the 2013 Orion Music + More Festival couldn’t get any more epic, brace yourself – Infections Grooves are reuniting after 22 years to play Metallica’s juggernaut music experience in June in Detroit, MI. Original members Mike Muir (Suicidal Tendencies), Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction), Dean Pleasants (Suicidal Tendencies), and special guest Jim Martin (ex-Faith No More, filling in for original guitarist Adam Siegel). “To reunite with those guys after 22 years is going to be really special for me.  Orion is the perfect place for that to happen…I’m looking forward to it,” said Robert Trujillo.

In addition, Rocket from the Crypt, Vista Chino, Dead Sara have been added to the already loaded bill. Rounding things our are local Detroit heavyweights Matt Clarke and Calico. Vans will make a triumphant return to Orion in 2013 with a full vert ramp, featuring pro skating demos happening accompanied by live music. Vans will also feature four signature models of the Vans x Metallica footwear at Orion, including two Kill ‘Em All styles. Foodies and drinkers will be more than satisfied with the refreshments this year. The Orion food area, …And Food For All, has enlisted Detroit restaurateur and entrepreneur Phil Cooley of Slows BBQ to curate the area and showcase some of the region’s best local cuisine.

The 2nd Annual Orion Music + More Festival will feature more than 30 bands across 5 live music stages plus a lifestyle element thatRob+Trujillo+2012+Orion+Music+More+Festival+1mZXXmiMby4l reflects each of Metallica’s band members many personal interests. Detroit will see the return of James Hetfield’s Custom Car & Motorcycle Show, Kirk Hammett’s Crypt, Lars Ulrich’s Hit the Lights Film Tent and Robert Trujillo’s Vans Vert Ramp alongside the Metallica Museum and many other fan favorite attractions.

Metallica have been touring relentlessly for the last 5 years. Their last record, 2008′s Death Magnetic, which saw the band return to form. Both heavy and thrashy, it’s a nice mix of …And Justice and Black Album. Magnetic debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200, and has since gone multi-platinum. It was nominated for 5 Grammy Awards, winning two of them (“Best Recording Package” and “Best Metal Performance” for “My Apocalypse”). Tentatively, Metallica plans to head into the studio in September to begin working on the new album. Producer Rick Ruben, who won the Grammy for “Producer of The Year – Non-Classical”, will once again be leading Metallica’s charge.
