Classic rock legends Heart will be back on the road this summer for a three-month trek across the U.S. The recently announced Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees will be joined by special guest Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience. The 2013 Heartbreaker Tour kick things off on June 17 in West Palm Beach, FL., and will set the sun on summer in Portland, OR on August 30. One can only imagine that the tour name is a cross between Heart’s band name, and the classic Led Zeppelin tune, “Heartbreaker”. In the tour press release, Heart vocalist Ann Wilson stated that fans should expect “awesome rock ‘n’ roll music every night.” Heart and Bonham will certainly deliver on that promise, as at the end of each show, Bonham will join Heart for a special 30-minute encore of Zeppelin covers.
Heart are still riding the wave of their new album, Fanatic, which came out on October 1, 2012. Fans are in for a real treat this summer, as the the band has 20 Top-40 Singles to choose from for their setlist. With over 30 million albums sold, VH1 ranked them #57 in “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock”. The band achieved Top 10 albums in the Billboard Top 200 in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Most recently, back in September, the Heart received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for their contributions to music. On April 18, Heart will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the band’s original line-up is set to perform at the ceremony. On December 26, Led Zeppelin was honored at the Kennedy Center Honors in New York City. Heart was one of the featured performers who paid tribute to Zeppelin that night.
Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience – a touring band featuring Jason on drums, covering Zeppelin classics and rare gems. But that’s only the forefront of the project. The concert truly takes fans on a journey, giving them a true “experience”. The show features rare videos played on the big screen, including concert footage, still photos, and home movies that showcase John Bonham as a musician, man, and father. Jason Bonham has drummed for the likes of UFO, Foreigner, and his current band, Black Country Communion, which features fellow rock legends Joe Bonamassa, Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) and Derek Sherinian (Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, KISS, Dream Theater, more). With their bluesy brand of heavy metal, the band just released their third album, Afterglow, on October 29. In 1988, Jason played recorded drums and toured with Jimmy Page on his solo album, Outrider. In May of the same year, Jason performed with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones in New York City at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary Concert. This was Led Zeppelin’s second reunion since their disbandment in 1980. In 2007, Led Zeppelin was once again called to arms, and performed with Jason at the tribute concert for late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.
