Foo Fighters’ Grammy-winning song “The Pretender” has hit 1 billion streams on Spotify. Originally released on August 21, 2007, the track was the lead single from the band’s platinum album ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.’ The song dominated the radio waves right out of the gate, and hit No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 – making it one of only three Top 40 hits for the band. It reached No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock and Alternative Airplay charts.
“The Pretender” garnered the band the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance, and helped ‘Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace’ win for Best Rock Album. The album was also nominated for Album of the Year, while “The Pretender” was up for Record of the Year and Best Rock Song. The album took home the trophy for Best International Album at the 2008 Brit Awards.
