The second leg of the Take Cover Tour begin in November and runs into 2027
Later this year, Foo Fighters are returning to Australia and New Zealand for another run of shows. The tour dates begin in November of 2026 and run through January of 2027. When wrapping up the first leg just a few weeks ago, frontman Dave Grohl told fans that they would be back sooner than expected, most likely with a new album to showcase.
Now, the next round of tour dates have been revealed and the band has been teasing new music on social media.

Foo Fighters did not start off the year at full strength. In a statement released on January 7, the band revealed that guitarist Pat Smear will be missing the band’s first few shows of 2026 after sustaining a significant foot injury. Apparently, Smear has begun the new year by “smashing the shit out of his left foot,” suffering multiple broken bones.
“In the classic tradition of rockstars having bizarre gardening accidents, Pat Smear has apparently rung in the new year by smashing the shit out of his left foot. This means he’ll unfortunately be missing a few shows while the multiple broken bones in his foot heal. We’ll miss our beloved Pat as much as you will, but we want him fully healed and back on his feet as soon as possible.”
The band tapped guitarist Jason Falkner, who has played with the likes of Beck and St. Vincent, to fill in for Pat while he recovers at home.
Good news is that Pat should be good to go for the band’s extensive stadium run across North America, Europe, and the UK this summer.
Last September, Foo Fighters returned to the stage. They surprised fans by playing an intimate club show at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California. For the gig, the band turned back the clock with super cheap tickets that had to be purchased in person. From there, they added additional shows in Santa Ana, California, Washington, D.C., and New Haven, Connecticut. Even the merch prices were low like the tickets, and fans were elated at the old school experience.
Additionally, the band appeared to be teasing some new music with the first club show announcement. The graphic that the band shared on social media for the show has a snippet of music playing in the background. The track, while giving some major “All My Life” vibes, could very well be an all-new tune and the follow-up to the recently released “Today’s Song.“
Recently, Foo Fighters released the all-new single “Asking for a Friend,” which will be featured on the upcoming album.
After their club gigs, Foo Fighters headlined the 2025 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. Other features acts include Elton John, The Smashing Pumpkins and Crowded House. The race took place October 3 through October 5 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Additionally, Foo Fighters just wrapped up a string of headlining dates in Indonesia and Japan.
On November 12, Foo Fighters played another huge headlining show in Monterrey, Mexico with a very special guest – Queens of the Stone Age.
The two groups have a storied history, primarily via their frontmen Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age). In 2002 Grohl jumped behind the kit for almost every track on Queens of the Stone Age’s breakthrough album Songs for the Deaf. It’s the cornerstone of their bond and set the tone for later collabs.
Next year, the two legendary bands are bringing their co-headlining experience to stadiums in North America. The run will make stops in Las Vegas, Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, Edmonton, Vancouver, and more. Very special guests for the trek will be Mannequin Pussy and Gouge Away on select dates.
When asked about the tour and new music, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl said, “Since our return to the stage in San Luis Obispo five weeks ago, we have been reminded of why we love and are forever devoted to doing this Foo Fighters thing. From reuniting as a band and staring at a list of 30 years worth of songs to brush off, to reimagining versions with the incredible blessing of the one and only Ilan Rubin behind the drums, to reconnecting with our amazing fans and blasting them with everything we’ve got (no matter the size of the venue) because we would not be here without them, we have the most solid core. And the sun is finally rising over the horizon. What better way to share the view than with close friends?”
He continues, “In 1992 I first saw the legendary Kyuss perform at the Off Ramp in Seattle and met Mr. Josh Homme. The band were friends of a friend, and before long their album Blues for the Red Sun became the soundtrack to that summer. 33 years later and with many miles behind us, I have shared some of my life’s most rewarding musical moments with my dear friend, Josh. A lifelong bond that goes far beyond the sound we’ve made together. So it is with great happiness that we can share this next chapter together with his almighty Queens of the Stone Age. Take cover.

Since the massive announcement, fans across the pond in Europe and the UK have patiently been waiting for the Foo Fighters to reveal plans for their highly anticipated return.
Now, its official – Foo Fighters are heading back to Europe and the UK next summer. The run includes stops in Warsaw, Munich, Paris, Berlin, Vienna and more. A highlight of the trek includes two shows at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool. In addition to their stadium shows, Foo Fighters will be headlining Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, I-Days in Milano, and NOS Alive Festival in Lisbon.
After announcing their first show of 2025, Foo Fighters shook up their lineup in a big way. The group parted ways with drummer Josh Freese, who took over for the late Taylor Hawkins in May 0f 2023. The news was confirmed by Freese himself on his official social media.
“The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know that they’ve decided to go in a “different direction with their drummer.” No reason was given. Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band. In my 40 years of professional drumming, I’ve never been let go from a band, so while I’m not angry – just a bit disappointed. But as most of you know I’ve always bounced between bands, so I’m fine. For this next album cycle and tour, Foo Fighters tapped former Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin, who had been with NIN since 2009. Ruben will reportedly play drums for all of Foo Fighters upcoming tour dates in Indonesia, Singapore, Japan, and Mexico. Subsequently (and ironically), Josh Freese rejoined Nine Inch Nails on the fly for their current North American leg of their Peel It Back World Tour that launched back on August 6 in Oakland, California. Freese had previously been a member of NIN, touring with the group from 2005 to 2008. During that stretch, he recorded drums on the band’s albums Year Zero (2007) and The Slip (2008).
After performing sporadically across North America in 2023, Foo Fighters embarked on a full United States tour last year that kicked off with back-to-back shows at Citi Field in New York on July 17 and July 18. The run wrapped up on August 18 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, where frontman Dave Grohl’s old house recently hit the market.

Foo Fighters’ new album, But Here We Are, arrived in June of 2023. The album peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, and topped Billboard’s Rock and Alternative Albums charts. It marked the band’s first release without late drummer Taylor Hawkins since he joined the band for 1999’s There Is Nothing Left to Lose. Dave Grohl recorded all the drums on But Here We Are.
The album garnered the band three 2024 GRAMMY® Award nominations. The LP But Here We Are was up for Best Rock Album, while the record’s lead single “Rescued” was in the running for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song. Metallica and Arctic Monkeys also grabbed three nods each.
