The band’s forthcoming LP arrives later this month
Blink-182 have revealed another new song “Dance with Me” from their upcoming album, One More Time. The song followed the previously released “More Than You Know,“ and the album’s title track. Watch the official music video for “Dance with Me” below now.
Blink-182’s upcoming ninth studio effort arrives on October 20 through Columbia Records. The album will be available on standard black vinyl, CD, lime green cassette, exclusive red marble vinyl, exclusive purple ooze vinyl, exclusive egg splatter vinyl, plus a CD box set that includes a t-shirt. Last October, Blink-182 revealed “Edging,” the lead single from their then-untitled new album, which was produced by drummer Travis Barker.
“I wanted to imagine as a listener what I wanted to experience and at the same time as a band member what we wanted to make and say and most importantly how it would sound production wise in 2022,” Barker said in a statement.”
Bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus added at the time, “I’m so happy to be back in the studio creating new music and looking forward to a giant world tour.”
The band’s last proper LP was 2019’s Nine, featuring Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba. This new record will be their first since release with Tom DeLonge since 2011’s Neighborhoods. The record was a commercial success for the band, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and No. 1 on both the Rock and Alternative albums charts. They followed it up with their Dogs Eating Dogs EP in 2012.
On October 6, 2022, Troy Hanson, Cumulus Media’s Vice President of Corporate Programming for Rock Formats, confirmed that DeLonge had rejoined blink-182 and that the band was planning a full-scale North American arena tour. Hanson broke the news on air during the Q101’s Brian, Ali & Justin Podcast – Chicago’s alternative rock radio station.
“Tom DeLonge has rejoined blink-182 and they are coming to the United Center,” Hanson stated.
On October 11, 2022, it was announced that vocalist and guitarist DeLonge was rejoining Blink-182. The group parted ways with DeLonge back in January of 2015. Unsurprisingly, there were conflicting reports about how the situation unfolded. The band recruited Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba to fill in after DeLonge’s departure.
“We were all set to play this festival and record a new album and Tom kept putting it off without reason,” the band said in a statement at the time. “A week before we were scheduled to go in to the studio we got an email from his manager explaining that he didn’t want to participate in any Blink-182 projects indefinitely, but would rather work on his other non-musical endeavors. “No hard feelings, but the show must go on for our fans.”
“To all the fans, I never quit the band,” DeLonge said on his social media at the time. “I actually was on a phone call about a blink-182 event for New York City at the time all these weird press releases started coming in. Apparently those releases were ‘sanctioned’ from the band. Are we dysfunctional, yes. But, Christ.”
In June of 2021, Blink-182 bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer. He had started chemotherapy treatments three months prior. Before he began his treatment, he had a visit with Blink bandmate Barker and then-former guitarist DeLonge.
“It was the first time that all three of us were in the same room in, like, five years,” Hoppus told Billboard. “It’s actually better than it used to be. There was no agenda. There were no lingering grudges. It felt very back to what it should be: three friends sitting in a room.”
As part of their current world tour, blink-182 are confirmed as co-headliners of the second annual When We Were Young Festival alongside Green Day. The event is set for Saturday, October 21 at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. The rest of the stacked lineup includes Thirty Seconds To Mars, The Offspring, Good Charlotte, Rise Against, Yellowcard, Sum 41, Simple Plan, New Found Glory, All Time Low, and many more.
