Killing All Control with George Lynch of Lynch Mob

     The Mob is back. I recently caught up with one of the most elite guitarists in the world, George Lynch of Lynch Mob, at the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey. Lynch started out in metal heyday as the lead guitarist of hair metal giants Dokken. The band released 5 albums throughout the ’80s, most notably 1985’s Under Lock and Key, which was certified platinum and hit #32 on the Billboard Top 200. In 1989, the band broke up do to personal differences (and, coincidentally, just before grunge took over the world). Lynch almost immediately formed his new band, Lynch Mob. In 1990, the released their debut album, Wicked Sensation. Despite the changing hard rock landscape, the record was certified gold, and is still considered the band’s best album to date. In the last 20 years, Lynch has also released 6 solo albums, including his most recent effort, 2011’s Kill All Control.

     After I introduced him as one of the best guitar players in the world, George told me that I was one of the best interviewers in the world. I was honored by the compliment, but I’m not so sure about that…I’ll let you guys decide! We got to talk about how he started playing guitar, and who has influenced him. For a man of his talent,George is one of the most humble musicians I’ve ever met! Lynch Mob is back in the game, embarking on a 2012 tour with an EP on the way, entitled Legacy. The 4-song offering is a celebration of George’s three decades of shredding. It will also hold fans over until Lynch Mob’s new record comes out in the near future. LynchMob are currently touring, which includes a special appearance at the M3 Festival in Maryland on May 12, 2012.
