A Farewell Loveletter: Juliet Simms Takes Her Final Bow On NBC’s The Voice

     Last night marked the end of an amazing run for soulful rocker Juliet Simms on NBC’s The Voice. After belting her way to the Top 4, Juliet came in a close second place on the Season 2 Finale. Throughout the season, Juliet infused her signature style into classic hits like “Roxanne” by The Police, “Cryin'” by Aerosmith, and a straight-from-the-heart rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” on the final episode of competition.

     I was fortunate enough to have Juliet be my very first guest for an interview at the 2011 Vans Warped Tour stop in Camden, NJ. I was a bit nervous, it being my first interview and all. And she was absolutely gorgeous. And…to top it all off, I forgot to spit out my damn gum (ah, Rookie mistake). The interview was a lot of fun though.Juliet was branching out from her band, Automatic Loveletter, to do some acoustic solo shows on Warped. She told me that the acoustic shows really make her feel in touch with her roots, and she is able to connect with the audience on a different level.

     While her time on The Voice may have turned her into a household name, Juliet is not new to the music scene by any means. In addition to performing on the last three Vans Warped Tours, Juliet and her band, Automatic Loveletter, have recorded with Epic and Sony. In 2010, the band reached the #23 spot on the U.S. Heatseekers Chart with the album, Truth of Dare. Since 2008, Automatic Loveletter has been steadily scoring hits on the my_space and iTunes music charts.

     As heartbreaking as her loss on The Voice may be, Juliet made the most of her time on the show. She cranked it up and made a lasting impression on the judges, her coach – Cee-Lo Green, and the American public. She held nothing back, and revealed her musical identity to the world. I guarantee you this: we haven’t heard the last from Juliet Simms. In fact, I think this girl is just getting warmed up.
