Practicing The Ritual with Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder
It’s never a good night to have a curse, but it’s always a good night for an interview. I recently got a chance to sit down with frontman Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder to talk about the band’s latest record, Ritual, and their 2012 U.S. Tour. It’s been nearly a year since the album’s release, and it peaked at #31 on the Billboard Top 200. We talk about how, for a death metal album, Ritual performed very well commercially. Trevor explained that heavy music is on a huge up-swing right now, and the fans are really into the scene. The BlackDahlia Murder are no stranger to success, though. Four of the band’s five studio albums have charted in the Billboard Top 200. Ritual finds the band reinventing the death metal wheel a bit, incorporating elements of old school thrash, grindcore, and heavy metal. It’s the band’s most well-rounded and diverse collection of songs. TheBlack Dahlia Murder will be taking a few weeks to rest and re-charge, then the band is hitting the road for a better part of the next year. Most immediately, they’re heading to Canada, then Europe to hit the summer festival circuit. Keep practicing your Ritual at home, and get your tickets to the live Ritual! CRANK IT UP!
