The group left fans speculating their future after wiping their socials last week
After wiping their socials last week, Paramore sent fans into a frenzy. Many immediately assumed that it could be the end of the group. The group also canceled their performance at iHeartRadio’s ALTer Ego on January 13 due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Some cooler heads prevailed, and chalked it up to the band simply gearing up to introduce something new. Thankfully, it ended up being the latter.
On Wednesday, A24 revealed a preview of Paramore’s cover of Talking Heads’ classic, “Burning Down the House.” The song is from an upcoming Talking Heads tribute album, featuring Paramore and 15 other artists putting their spin on Talking Heads tracks. Listen to the snippet of Paramore’s version of “Burning Down the House” below.
According to Variety, sources close to the band confirmed that Paramore wiped their socials because their contract with Atlantic Records had concluded.
The new cover song isn’t the only thing Paramore have coming down the pike this year. They have a stacked touring schedule serving as special guests once again for global superstar Taylor Swift on the European leg of her Eras Tour. Paramore helped Taylor Swift kick off her Eras Tour last March 18 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
The band’s latest album, This Is Why, arrived nearly a year ago through Fueled by Ramen. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and topped the Rock and Alternative Albums charts. The band garnered two GRAMMY® Award nominations for Best Rock Album, while the record’s title track got the nod for Best Alternative Music Performance.
Last October, Paramore released Re: This Is Why, an album of reimagined versions of the record’s original songs.
