The band acknowledged the tour after some dates and information were leaked
After much anticipation, Nine Inch Nails are returning to the road later this year. Earlier today [January 13], some information about a Nine Inch Nails world tour was leaked via Ticketmaster. Now, the band has acknowledged the leak and confirmed that they will be touring in 2025.
“Since some dates and information about our world tour have been leaked, we are confirming that, yes, we will be touring and will provide more details soon,” the band said in a statement. “We are all watching the devastation that is unfolding in California and have paused our announcement while people try to deal with all that is happening.”
The group also provided a list of emergency services and resources for those affected by the Los Angeles area wild fires, which can be found below.
Today’s leak revealed just one show – September 10 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. According to the listing, general tickets were set to go on sale this Friday, January 17 at 12pm EST. Since the announcement of the full tour itinerary is being pushed, so is the ticket on-sale date.
Frontman and founder Trent Reznor and bandmate Atticus Ross kept themselves busy lately writing the score for the film, Challengers. Their work garnered them the Golden Globe for Best Original Score last week. Now, the dynamic duo is ready to revert their energy back to Nine Inch Nails.
Apparently, Nine Inch Nails will most likely have some new material to debut on this upcoming trek. In a recent interview with GQ, Reznor and Ross confirmed that a new NIN record is on the way.
“I do feel excited about starting on the next record,” Ross stated. “I think we’re in a place now where we kind of have an idea.”
Reznor added that the soundtrack work the duo have been churning out has “managed to make Nine Inch Nails feel way more exciting than it had been in the last few years. I’d kind of let it atrophy a bit in my mind for a variety of reasons.”
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 marked a challenging period for the band and the music industry as a whole. During this time, Nine Inch Nails released Ghosts V: Together and Ghosts VI: Locusts. These albums were designed to provide solace and reflection during the uncertain times of lockdown. The critically acclaimed works showcased their ability to channel the global atmosphere into deeply evocative soundscapes.
Reznor and Ross expanded their repertoire in film scoring, winning the Academy Award for Best Original Score for their work on Pixar’s Soul. This win, paired with their nomination for Mank in the same year, further cemented their status as versatile and highly respected composers. Although these achievements were not directly tied to Nine Inch Nails, they underscored the duo’s creative prowess and elevated their profile across multiple industries.
In addition, Nine Inch Nails was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 (the ceremony was postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic). Reznor used his acceptance speech to highlight the collaborative nature of NIN and express gratitude to the fans and contributors who had shaped the band’s legacy.
With pandemic restrictions easing, Nine Inch Nails embarked on their first post-pandemic tour in 2022. The band performed a series of headlining shows and festival appearances, including an emotional reunion with former members at their Cleveland concert. This lineup, featuring original and past contributors such as Richard Patrick and Chris Vrenna, thrilled fans and celebrated the band’s enduring influence.
These live performances reaffirmed NIN’s reputation as one of the most dynamic and intense live acts in modern music. The setlists included a mix of classic hits, deep cuts, and newer material, offering a comprehensive journey through their storied catalog.
Reznor and Ross continued to expand their cinematic ventures, scoring high-profile projects such as Empire of Light. Their collaboration showcased a blend of ambient textures and emotional depth, a signature of their scoring style. Meanwhile, Nine Inch Nails hinted at new material, teasing fans with cryptic posts on social media and glimpses of studio sessions.
The band also launched special anniversary reissues of their landmark albums, including The Fragile and With Teeth. These reissues featured remastered tracks, rare demos, and behind-the-scenes content, giving fans a deeper look into the creative process behind these iconic works.
Nine Inch Nails are undoubtedly one of the greatest artists of all time. Pioneers of the industrial genre, they incorporated elements of rock, metal, electronica, and alternative rock to forge a style all their own. They shook the music world to it’s core in 1989 with their debut album, Pretty Hate Machine. The record was truly groundbreaking, and has since gone on to be certified multi-platinum. In 1994, NIИ set the bar once again with their sophomore effort, The Downward Spiral, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200. The disc went on to sell over 5 million copies, and be certified quadruple-platinum. It spawned arguably the band’s finest moment, the single “Closer.”
