Mötley Crüe have canceled their upcoming concert at Acrisure Arena. The show was schedule for New Years Eve, December 31. The band released an official statement Thursday, citing “issues beyond their control.” Read the full confirmation below.
“It is with deep regret we must inform you the Crüe Year’s Eve show in Palm Springs is being canceled,” the band said in a statement. “The very short timeframe to produce the event resulted in issues beyond our control. We look forward to seeing you all in 2024!”
The venue also shared the band’s statement confirming the cancelation.
“We wanted to make ‘Crüe Year’s Eve’ at Acrisure Arena a unique celebration for fans,” Acrisure Arena’s Senior Vice President John Page said when the show was announced. “It’s not just a concert; it’s a special event to close out the year with the Mötley Crüe experience. The energy and showmanship they bring are unparalleled, and there’s no better way to ring in the New Year than with this legendary band. Acrisure Arena is honored to be the exclusive host for Mötley Crüe’s only scheduled performance and final show of 2023.”
While they aren’t wrapping up 2023 with the bang that fans were hoping for, Mötley Crüe are already stacking their 2024 touring schedule.
Ahead of their world tour back in February, Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard played two warm-up gigs at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Last week, Mötley Crüe announced plans to return next year. The group will play two shows on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 at Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena. Tickets go on sale this Friday, December 15.
In May, the Crüe are headlining Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida. Also topping the bill are Foo Fighters, Slipknot, and Limp Bizkit. Other feature performers are Judas Priest, Disturbed, Queens of the Stone Age, Greta Van Fleet, Falling In Reverse, Breaking Benjamin, and more. In June, the band is headlining Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From there, they head to Canada for an appearance at the Ottawa Bluesfest in July, plus a headlining concert at Scotiabank Arena in Calgary.
Mötley Crüe’s last studio album was 2008’s Saints of Los Angeles. The band is currently working on new music with producer Bob Rock, and John 5 on guitar. Back in March, original guitarist and founding member Mick Mars retired from touring. For the global run, the Crüe enlisted John 5 to handling guitar duties on the road. Now, at appears as though John 5 will be recording with the band as well.
Alongside Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe have been touring the globe over the past few months. Over the summer, both bands are slated to perform at some of the world’s biggest rock music festivals including Sweden Rock Festival, Finland RockFest, Copenhell in Denmark, and Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium. In August, Mötley Crüe played a handful of U.S. headlining shows with special guest Alice Cooper.
Mötley Crüe has accumulated worldwide album sales exceeding 100 million, seven platinum and multi-platinum albums, 22 Top 40 mainstream rock hits, six Top 20 pop singles, three GRAMMY® Award nominations, four New York Times best-sellers, and even landed a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The band saw renewed success with the release of their Netflix biopic The Dirt. The film’s soundtrack landed the band another #1 album on iTunes and Top 10 worldwide with 22 chart-topping singles and seven albums on the charts. Before he was working with the band, new guitarist John 5 co-wrote the songs “The Dirt,” “Crash and Burn,” and “Ride with the Devil” for the soundtrack.
