The band begins their first North American arena tour next week
Italian breakout sensations Måneskin won Best Rock Video at the MTV Video Music Awards last night at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. The rock upstarts beat out the likes of Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters Muse, and Linkin Park to take home the hardware. Check out the award-winning video for “The Loneliest” below, directed by Tommaso Ottomano.
Måneskin were also nominated for Group of the Year, but lost out to BLACKPINK.
Additionally, Måneskin performed at the ceremony, breaking out their brand new song, “HONEY (ARE U COMING?).” Released on September 1, the stand-alone single follows their latest studio LP RUSH! which arrived back in January through Epic Records. Check out the video of the performance below.
As usual, some weird stuff went down surrounding the rock and alternative acts. Interestingly, blink-182, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, boygenius, and Thirty Seconds to Mars all lost in the Best Alternative Video category to pop act Lana Del Rey featuring Jon Batiste. Taylor Swift took home the award for Show of the Summer over Beyoncé, BLACKPINK, Drake, Ed Sheeran, and KAROL G. Metallica, who have been selling out stadiums for multiple nights all summer, weren’t even nominated. It’s also worth noting that the heavy metal legends just topped category winner Taylor Swift’s previous attendance record at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, but couldn’t even get a nomination. Something’s not adding up here – literally.
On September 21, Måneskin kick off the North American leg of their Rush! World Tour at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The run is the band’s first-ever North American arena tour.
