The guitar icon has lost his long battle with throat cancer
Eddie Van Halen, founder and guitarist of rock icons Van Halen, has died. He was 65. Van Halen had been battling throat cancer for several years.
The news was confirmed by Eddie’s son and current Van Halen vocalist Wolfgang Van Halen on Twitter.
Van Halen are one of the most influential rock acts of all time. Since exploding onto the scene with their seminal self-titled debut LP in 1978, the band seamlessly blended rock ‘n’ roll and heavy metal. Eddie Van Halen reinvented rock guitar, and his signature sound influenced rock giants for generations to come.
