The North American run kicks off in the fall
This fall, blink-182 are returning to the road. The North American run begins on August 28 in Florida. Very special guests for the trek will be Alkaline Trio, who feature one-time blink member Matt Skiba. Tickets on sale this Friday, April 11 at 10am local time. “This is message will self destruct…in your pants,” blink-182 said in a statement. “The Missionary Impossible tour is coming for you.”
Late last year, blink-182 embarked on a second leg of their wildly successful reunion tour. The band released their highly-anticipated new album One More Time… in October of 2023. The album skyrocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It also topped Billboard’s Rock and Alternative Albums charts, and the UK’s Rock & Metal Albums chart. The record features the return of guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge. On October 11, 2022, it was announced that DeLonge was rejoining Blink-182. The group parted ways with DeLonge back in January of 2015. Unsurprisingly, there were conflicting reports about how the situation unfolded. The band had recruited Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba to fill in after DeLonge’s departure.
The band’s last proper LP was 2019’s Nine, featuring Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba. The band’s last release with DeLonge was 2011’s Neighborhoods. The record was a commercial success for the band, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and No. 1 on both the Rock and Alternative albums charts. They followed it up with their Dogs Eating Dogs EP in 2012.
Alkaline Trio are still touring in support of their latest effort Blood, Hair, And Eyeballs. It is the band’s first LP since 2018, making it the longest gap between studio albums over their entire career. The album cracked the Top 25 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums chart, and peaked at No. 3 on the UK’s Rock & Metal Albums chart. The record also marks the band’s final outing with dummer Derek Grant, who left the group in June of 2023. Frontman Matt Skiba and bassist Dan Adriano tapped veteran drummer Atom Willard (Angels & Airwaves, The Offspring, Social Distortion) to make them a trio again.
