The track is the band’s first new piece of material in five years
Blessthefall have revealed the music video for their brand new song “Wake the Dead.” The track, which premiered yesterday via Rise Records, is the band’s new piece of material in five years. Stream the official clip below now.
“To all the fans – we’ve seen you and heard you over the last five years,” frontman Beau Bokan said. “We’re back and this one’s for you. ‘Wake the Dead’ has all the elements that define our band. We took our time writing it but didn’t overthink. We wanted the first song to melt your faces from the beginning and drag you to the end without slowing down. We hope you love it as much as we do.”
The video was directed by Daniel Davison and Tes Hash. Yeah Friction produced the clip. It was shot in Arizona at 3500 Kelvin Studio Phoenix and Lance Thorn Studio in Tucson.
In a social media post for the video, the band promised that there is “more to come.”
After a five-year hiatus which many interpreted as the end of the band, Blessthefall are back in business. The metalcore titans released their sixth studio album Hard Feelings in March of 2018 via Rise Records. They toured in support of the record throughout the year. In April of 2018, drummer Matt Traynor announced that he was leaving the band after the Hard Feelings Tour.
“After much time and consideration, I have come to the personal decision to end my time with Blessthefall,” Traynor said on his official social media. “The Hard Feelings U.S. tour will be my last.” He went on to confirm that he was “so proud” to see how far the band has come, and that he would hold his time with the group in the highest regard.
In 2019, Blessthefall mounted a tour celebrating the tenth anniversary of their 2009 LP Witness. Shortly after the tour wrapped, the band’s official social media accounts stopped being updated. On Monday, May 22, the band’s social media was updated with fresh band portraits and a link to the new song.
