The band finally made it across the pond to promote their new album
After much delay, the mighty Meshuggah finally made it overseas for their highly-anticipated North American tour. The extreme metal titans are touring in support of their new album Immutable which arrived back in April via Atomic Fire Records. With special guests Converge and Torche in tow, Meshuggah are trekking across the continent reducing venues to rubble.
Meshuggah took to the stage, kicking things off with the opening track from their new album “Broken Cog.” The slow, jackhammer-like intro was the perfectly set the tone for the evening; it was going to be brutal. Next up was another new track “Light the Shortening Fuse,” which would prove to be one of the best of the entire show.
Other highlights included “Rational Gaze,” “The Abysmal Eye,” “Born in Dissonance,” “In Death – Is Life/In Death – Is Death,” and more. The group took tracks from seven albums in their catalog. In the end, they churned out the most songs (four) from their new LP and the material was well-received.
After wrapping this up with their 2002 hit “Straws Pulled at Random,” the band returned for a bone-crushing encore. The performed their seminal classics “Demiurge” and “Future Breed Machine.” The decimated audience were sent home with their ears ringing. It was undoubtedly one of the loudest shows we’ve ever covered.
Meshuggah’s Immutable Tour steamrolls on through October 16. On Friday September 23, the band is slated to make a featured appearance at Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY. Tickets for the rest of the band’s headlining shows are on sale now HERE.
