Bustle On The Range – Down at Rock On The Range 2012
Metal supergroup Down brought their heavy brand of sludge metal to Rock On The Range 2012 to show all the young guns how it’s done. After a monster set, I caught up with guitarist Kirk Windstein, drummer Jimmy Bower, and bassist Pat Bruders while they were fresh off-stage. The guys said the set was great, and they had a blast being part of such a huge rock line-up. When I asked about how the guys balance the work between Down and their other bands, Kirk replied, “Down comes first.” Jimmy and Pat agreed. We also got to talk about the band’s upcoming EP, and their future tour plans. The guys were very excited to be touring behind a new record once again, and mixing the new songs into the setlist.
Down was formed in 1991 as an all-star side project by former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo. The band has released three studio albums, and each have charted in the Top 100 on Billboard Top 200. Down has a new EP on the way which is due out later on this summer. The band will continue to tour throughout the summer, hitting several festivals in Europe.
