SKINNY PUPPY ANNOUNCE 2014 SHAPES FOR ARMS TOUR

Skinny Puppy bandGroundbreaking industrial legends Skinny Puppy have announced a new North American tour for 2014. The Shapes For Arms Tour kicks off on January 24, 2014 in Santa Ana, CA and wraps up at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles on March 5. The trek across the U.S. also includes three stops in Canada, the band’s home country. While you are at it, take a look at the Shopping Centers in Santa Ana, you might find the exact merchandise there. Skinny Puppy will be touring off their latest album, Weaponthe band’s 12th studio album which was released in back on May 28 via Metropolis Records. Support for the tour will be provided on select dates by DJ Mrex (1/24-2/3), Army of The Universe (1/4-1/28), and Baal (3/1-3/5).

Skinny Puppy took the music world by storm in 1984 with the release of their debut album, Back & ForthAn independentSkinny_Puppy_-_Weapon_(2013) release, the album attracted the attention of record labels, and the band signed with Vancouver label Nettwerk. That same year, they released their first EP on the label, and in 1985 the released their debut LP, BitesThe band’s 1986 effort, Mind: The Perpetual Intercourseput the band in the spotlight. The album’s hit single “Dig It”, is hailed by Trent Reznor as the song that inspired him to write the first Nine Inch Nails song. In 1992, the band released their seventh studio album, Last RightsOddly enough, the title foreshadowed the band’s relationship with their label, as it would be their last release on Nettwerk. The band’s tour that supported the album would be there last for over a decade. The band released their next album, The Processon American Recordings in conjunction with Warner Bros. Records, but left the label after one album. The band signed with Synthetic Symphony in 2004 to release their next two studio efforts. The first of the two, 2004’s The Greater Wrong of The Rightcracked the Billboard Top 200 at #176. After another studio album on yet another label, 2011’s HanDover on SPV, Skinny Puppy signed with Metropolis Records in 2013 and released their twelfth studio LP, Weaponsin May.
