MTV IS BRINGING BACK MUSIC WITH NEW SHOW ‘WONDERLAND’

by Matt Bishop | September 8, 2016

The music is back on MTV. Today, the network announced the launch of a new show Wonderland. It is the channel’s first live music show in almost 20 years. The show will be hosted by Lizzo, comedian Myke Wright, and Rachael Finley and premieres on September 15 via MTV.com and Facebook. Instead of rushing home from school to turn on TRL, MTV’s last generation of music fans can stream the next chapter of music television comfortably from anywhere. The official trailer for the show can be streamed above.

The network’s move doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, considering the drastic drop in viewership of this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. The iconic annual award show, which aired on August 28, brought in only 6.5 million viewers across 11 Viacom networks – an approximate 4 million (34%) viewer decrease from last year. In 2014, the VMAs saw 8.3 million viewers. Perhaps the goal of Wonderland is to reverse this trend. Either way, we’re stoked about it.
