This year marks Godsmack’s return to the Sands Steel Stage after headlining in 2017. The band cranked out an explosive set – pyro and all – for a packed house of just over 3,500 metalheads. The show continued Musikfest’s streak of heavy acts. Since 2013, the likes of Avenged Sevenfold, Skillet, Alice In Chains, Bush, and Chevelle have all served as headliners. Musikfest lightened things up a bit last year with performances by rock radio hitmakers Daughtry and guitar virtuoso Gary Clark Jr.

Most recently, Godsmack were nominated for Rock Song of the Year and Rock Artist of the Year at the 2019 iHeart Radio Music Awards. The band’s latest album When Legends Rise was released nearly a year ago. The disc debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 200. The album also marks Godsmack’s first release on their new label BMG since parting ways with Republic/Universal. On April 16, Godsmack kick off a brief North American headlining run with the mighty Volbeat at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Godsmack signed with Universal/Republic Records in 1998 and exploded onto the scene that same year with their self-titled debut LP. The album debuted at #22 on the Billboard Top 200, and went on to be certified 5x platinum. From there, Godsmack would go on to release three consecutive #1 albums – FacelessIV, and The Oracle. After the release of their greatest hits disc Good Times, Bad Times…Ten Years of Godsmack which featured a thunderous cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times, Bad Times.” To date, Godsmack have sold nearly 30 million albums worldwide. They have four Grammy Award nominations to their name, and in 2001 they garnered a Billboard Music Award for Rock Artist of The Year.
